Soccer Game Preview: Lubbock vs. Amarillo

Lubbock hasn't had much luck against Amarillo recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lubbock Westerners will be playing at home against the Amarillo Sandies at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lubbock took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They never let Tascosa get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Westerners' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 640th, while the Rebels are ranked 233rd).

Meanwhile, Amarillo entered their tilt with Caprock on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Longhorns. Two seems to be a good number for the Sandies as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Amarillo now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Lubbock, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 2-10.
