Basketball Recap: New Prairie Takes a Loss

New Prairie and Culver Academies squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but New Prairie had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Culver Academies Eagles, falling 65-30. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Eagles are ranked 48th).

Despite the loss, New Prairie still got an impressive performance from Nevaeh Trobaugh, who went 7 of 10 to rack up 14 points and six rebounds. Sami Pease also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Culver Academies' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reid Seddelmeyer led the charge by as she made all 5 shots she took for 12 points along with seven assists and five boards. Kayla Herron was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten assists.

New Prairie has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 17 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season. As for Culver Academies, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

New Prairie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Culver Academies, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-38 win against South Bend St. Joseph on the 7th.
