Football Recap: Arizona College Prep Knights vs. Campo Verde Coyotes
Arizona College Prep entered their matchup against Campo Verde on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Knights took a 32-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coyotes.
Arizona College Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Heinrich, who threw for 311 yards and four TDs while picking up 14.1 yards per attempt. The Knights' leading receiver Kyle Poole was Heinrich's top target yet again, picking up 122 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Arizona College Prep's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Cole Caiazzo and Johnny Harmon, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Campo Verde's side was Caiazzo, who picked up a sack and made 15 total tackles (1.5 for loss).
Jonah Lubno had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 88 yards and three scores for Campo Verde. Those 88 rushing yards gave Lubno a new career-high. Brody Stickle helped out on the ground, rushing for 119 yards.
Arizona College Prep suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 8-2. As for Campo Verde, their record is now 6-4.
