Soccer Game Preview: Palma vs. Pajaro Valley

The Palma Chieftains are taking a road trip to square off against the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Pajaro Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Palma, who comes in off a win.

Palma's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Rancho San Juan 6-0. Given the Chieftains' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Trailblazers are ranked 912th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Pajaro Valley after they claimed the first goal on Wednesday, however, they wouldn't score again. They fell just short of King City by a score of 2-1.

Palma has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four games. As for Pajaro Valley, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 0-1-3 and their overall record down to 1-6-5.

Palma came up short against Pajaro Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Palma avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
