Basketball Recap: Madden Gilliatt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Nansemond-Suffolk Academy over Hargrave Military Academy

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Nansemond-Suffolk Academy can now relate to. The contest between the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints and the Hargrave Military Academy Tigers didn't end well, with the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints falling 71-52. The Saints' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madden Gilliatt, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ira 'Tres' Williams iii, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Hargrave Military Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendall Lanier led the charge by putting up 18 points. That's the most points Lanier has posted since back in December of 2024. Cameron Tucker was another key player, scoring nine points.
