Basketball Game Preview: Quaker Valley Quakers vs. Beaver Bobcats

Quaker Valley is 9-1 against Beaver since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Quaker Valley Quakers will take on the Beaver Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Quaker Valley will head into Sunday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Aquinas Academy on Sunday. Quaker Valley blew past Aquinas Academy 74-54.

Quaker Valley found their leader in freshman Harrison Kerley, who went 10 of 17 en route to 28 points and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Kerley a new career-high in points. Kolton Johnson was another key player, almost dropping a triple-double on nine points, 14 boards, and ten assists.

Quaker Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Beaver entered their tilt with Ambridge on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victor by a 75-55 margin over the Bridgers. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Bridgers are ranked 503rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Quaker Valley is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Beaver, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Quaker Valley ended up a good deal behind Beaver when the teams last played back in January, losing 63-49. Can Quaker Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
