Softball Game Preview: Halls Red Devils vs. Baylor Red Raiders

The Halls Red Devils will take on the Baylor Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Halls' pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so Baylor's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Halls' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Powell by a score of 5-0. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Powell's batters probably weren't too happy with Atiana Stamper, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up four walks). Stamper has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Halls saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emery Bales, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Harper Bales, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Halls hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Powell struck out 11 times.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Baylor ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against South Pittsburg, sneaking past 2-1.

Baylor's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Halls, their victory bumped their record up to 19-4-1.

Halls couldn't quite finish off Baylor in their previous meeting back in April of 2015 and fell 2-0. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
