Mahoning Valley - Scarlet Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Geno Perry Crosses Big Stat Threshold

On Friday, Lowellville got the W thanks in part to Geno Perry playing the best football he has all season. Perry rushed for 282 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 2.1 rushing touchdowns per game. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards.

This season, Perry has averaged 22.2 receiving yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 35.33 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 184.78 rushing yards.

Darney Came Up Big in Western Reserve's 39-12 Victory

Jack Darney posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry.

Mineral Ridge's probably not too fond of Darney given he always seems to get the better of them. Darney rushed for 138 yards while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 51 receiving yards and a touchdown the last time he and the Rams duked it out back in October of 2023.

Dante Gentile's Big Game Leads Springfield over Mcdonald

Springfield picked up their sixth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Dante Gentile. Gentile did his part (and then some), rushing for 187 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry for the 'W'. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 115 rushing yards.

On the season, Gentile has run in 18 touchdowns while averaging 175.4 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 100.89 rushing yards per game.
