Softball Recap: Annawan-Wethersfield Comes Up Short

Annawan-Wethersfield had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 6-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] Spartans, falling 6-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Friday.

As for Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge], they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge], who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge]'s part, the result came thanks to Avery Humphrey's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Humphrey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Monica Harreld was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Annawan-Wethersfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Princeville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge], they are taking a road trip to square off against Riverdale at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
