Softball Preview: Ocean City Raiders vs. Cedar Creek Pirates
The Ocean City Raiders will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Cedar Creek Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cedar Creek took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Ocean City, who comes in off a win.
Ocean City is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Mainland Regional. Ocean City blew past Mainland Regional 11-2 on Monday.
Brooke Douglas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Douglas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Taylor Vaugh and Briar McNair did most of the damage at the plate: Vaugh scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while McNair went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Meanwhile, Cedar Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of St. Joseph.
