Softball Recap: Yreka Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Yreka can now relate to. They came up short against the Lassen Grizzlies on Tuesday, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, with their most recent loss being a 11-10 defeat back in April.

Yreka saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaelynn DeBortoli, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Hadley Shaw was another, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Yreka's defeat dropped their record down to 15-14. As for Lassen, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Yreka will face off against Live Oak at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lassen, they will take on West Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Grizzlies 3.4, the Eagles 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
