Basketball Recap: Tripp-Delmont/Armour Nighthawks vs. Gayville-Volin Raiders
The Tripp-Delmont/Armour Nighthawks were the 40-31 winner over the Gayville-Volin Raiders when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Tripp-Delmont/Armour fell 44-35 to the Raiders on Tuesday.
Gayville-Volin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Hoxeng led the charge by scoring 21 points along with three steals. Hoxeng continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maia Achen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Tripp-Delmont/Armour's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Gayville-Volin, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tripp-Delmont/Armour will take on the Braves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Marty Indian will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Gayville-Volin, they and the Seahawks will face off on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
