Basketball Recap: Lake Mead Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Lake Mead Christian Academy has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 28.2 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They had to suffer through a 69-11 loss at the hands of the Needles Mustangs. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-9.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Mead Christian Academy lost, don't look at Savannah Hartfield. Despite the final result, she posted six points.

Leading Needles to victory were Gianna Collier and Isabella Harvey. Collier went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 26 points along with seven boards and five steals, while Harvey went 7 of 8 en route to 17 points and three steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Collier has scored at least a third of Needles' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gisele Burns, who had six points.

With the defeat, Lake Mead Christian Academy broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-1. As for Needles, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
