Football Recap: Hewitt-Trussville Starts Season with Victory Against JAG + How To Watch

Hewitt-Trussville took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They really took it to the JAG Jaguars for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-0 win. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Jaguars are ranked 97th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Zach Benedict looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 163 yards and two touchdowns on perfect 8-for-8 passing. Those 163 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Christopher Cj Davis, who gained 59 total yards and two touchdowns.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hewitt-Trussville is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Gadsden City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for JAG, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Carver Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
