Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Pleasant Oilers vs. Grand Blanc Bobcats

Mt. Pleasant is 0-5 against Grand Blanc since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Mt. Pleasant Oilers will welcome the Grand Blanc Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mt. Pleasant is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since November 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Traverse City West, sneaking past 46-44. The win was all the more spectacular given the Oilers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Titans are ranked 22nd).

Meanwhile, Grand Blanc took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 84-41 victory over Midland. The Bobcats have beaten the Chemics the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Chemics has come to flipping the script.

Grand Blanc pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points over those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
