Baseball Game Preview: Ogden International vs. Lane Tech Champions

Ogden International will face off against the Lane Tech Champions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Ogden International is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Ogden International after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 7-1 to Payton College Prep. Ogden International has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ogden International saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Osiah Vega, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Lane Tech waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Dukes by a score of 10-5.

The team relied heavily on Tyler Trapp, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Lane Tech: the team is 9-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Rory Irwin was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Lane Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lane Tech's win bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Ogden International, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Ogden International suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Lane Tech in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Ogden International avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
