Baseball Game Preview: Fort Dorchester Patriots vs. Summerville Green Wave

For the second straight game, Fort Dorchester will face off against Summerville. The Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Dorchester will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Fort Dorchester is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Summerville, who was ranked tenth at the time (Fort Dorchester was ranked eighth). The Patriots won by a run and slipped past the Green Wave 3-2. The game was the first time the Patriots have beaten the Green Wave on their field since April 30, 2021.

Banks Wickersham made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Lee Lovelace was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Fort Dorchester's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Summerville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-8 record this season.
