Basketball Recap: Central Valley Comes Up Short

Central Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the University Prep Panthers and fell 72-32. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1290th, while the Panthers are ranked 299th).

Jake Curry was Central Valley's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Cooper Reed held things down on the boards with six rebounds. Hayden Webster took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with four assists.

University Prep found their leader in sophomore Trey Pringle, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points along with six assists and three steals. The contest was Pringle's third in a row with at least ten points. Tayne Allman was another key player, putting up eight points and seven steals.

Central Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for University Prep, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-6.

Central Valley will head out on the road to face off against Lassen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for University Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against West Valley at 7:30 p.m. West Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.
