Mendon is a perfect 4-0 against Bangor since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Vikings at 10:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mendon gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Eau Claire with a sharp 12-1 victory.
Mike Curiel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Cam Bingaman looked comfortable as he got on base in two of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, Mendon let Phoenix Dunson and Jerry Batten run wild. Dunson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Batten went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Batten has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Bangor had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Eau Claire on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their one-run performance the game before.
Mendon's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Bangor, their win bumped their record up to 13-15.
Mendon took their victory against Bangor in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-1 score. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
