Recap: Bishop Ireton Cardinals vs. Paul VI Panthers

It was a good run, but the Bishop Ireton Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Paul VI. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bishop Ireton in their matchups with Paul VI: they've now lost four in a row.

Bishop Ireton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amirah Anderson, who shot 4-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Desirae Ashton, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Bishop Ireton's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-8. As for Paul VI, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Ireton will take on Bishop McNamara at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Ireton is on a ten-game streak of home wins, Bishop McNamara a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Paul VI, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Archbishop Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Archbishop Carroll focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Saturday.
