Baseball Recap: Desert Hills Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Desert Hills is still undefeated this season after their match against Foothill on Saturday, but Foothill came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Desert Hills Thunder came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Foothill Falcons. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hoyt Atkin looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Harmon Skeen was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Briggs Fillmore, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Desert Hills pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Foothill, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert Hills will host Canyon View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Hills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Foothill, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Coronado at 3:30 p.m. Foothill also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 6.6 runs per game.
