Preview: Coral Glades Jaguars vs. Coconut Creek Cougars
The Coral Glades Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Coconut Creek Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Coral Glades comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Monday, Coral Glades was beaten by Stoneman Douglas 39-11.
Meanwhile, Coconut Creek scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 49-25 margin over Taravella. Considering Coconut Creek has won three matchups by more than 23 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Coconut Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ma?Kylah Menard led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five assists and three steals. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for Menard. The team also got some help courtesy of Devonique Thompson, who scored 12 points.
Coral Glades bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Coconut Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season.
Coral Glades didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Coconut Creek in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 43-38 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coral Glades since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
