Basketball Recap: Miami Country Day Gets the Win

Miami Country Day saw some tournament action on Friday. They managed a 71-67 victory over the Bell Creek Academy Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Miguel Orbe was nothing short of spectacular: he shot 60% from beyond the arc on his way to 35 points along with six rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Malik Charles, who posted ten points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Bell Creek Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Baran Barnes, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarvis Pope, who earned 13 points along with six assists and five boards.

Miami Country Day has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record. As for Bell Creek Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Miami Country Day didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-64 win against Parrish Community on the 29th. As for Bell Creek Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 74-70 loss against Mater Lakes Academy on the 29th.
