Baseball Game Preview: Mattawan Wildcats vs. Norrix Knights

Mattawan has gone 9-1 against Norrix recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out to challenge the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Mattawan will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Monday, Mattawan earned a 6-3 win over Kalamazoo Christian.

Mattawan got a great performance from Kellan Wilder as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, Patrick Dougherty was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most hits he has posted over his last eight games. Another player making a difference was Kaden Jominy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Norrix came up short against Kalamazoo Christian on Saturday and fell 6-2. The Knights have struggled against the Comets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Mattawan's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Norrix, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-6.

Mattawan took their victory against Norrix in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
