Baseball Game Preview: Botkins Trojans vs. Anna Rockets

Botkins is 1-8-1 against Anna since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rockets at 5:00 p.m. Anna took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Botkins, who comes in off a win.

Botkins is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since April 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Spencerville 3-1. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jay Wildermuth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Botkins is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 3-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Botkins' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Levi Frey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Will Monnin, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Anna was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marion Local. The Rockets have struggled against the Flyers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Botkins' win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Anna, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
