Preview: Liberty Patriots vs. Bishop Gorman Gaels
After three games on the road, Liberty is heading back home. They will take on the Bishop Gorman Gaels at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, Liberty faced the Blue Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Liberty skirted past the Blue Knights 39-37.
Liberty's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daisha Peavy, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Peavy is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last seven games she's played. Satsuki Bradley was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 63-32 victory over Desert Pines. The win was nothing new for Bishop Gorman as they're now sitting on three straight.
Bishop Gorman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Neeyah Webster led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sydney Chestnut, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Bishop Gorman, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4.
Liberty didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Gaels in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory.
