Hopewell-Loudon had lost five straight headed into Tuesday's contest, but Maddie Holcomb didn't let it get to six. The Chieftains came out on top against the Woodmore Wildcats by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday for which the team can thank Holcomb, who had 21 digs and one assist. She has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last eight times she's played.
The win didn't come easy: Woodmore scored at least 20 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 25-21.
Woodmore's loss came despite strong showings from Payton Whitcum and Ariana Florio. Whitcum had 13 digs and four aces, while Florio had 21 digs, nine kills, four aces, and three blocks.
Hopewell-Loudon's record is now 7-13. As for Woodmore, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
