Volleyball Recap: Somerset Academy Central Miramar Falls to Franklin Academy in First Game of Season

Somerset Academy Central Miramar unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Franklin Academy Panthers on Friday, falling 3-0. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Somerset Academy Central Miramar took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-8, 25-15.

Franklin Academy found their leader in freshman Sofia Hernandez, who had 20 digs and four aces. Another player making a difference was Cefora Martinez, who had five aces and four digs.

The victory was the third in a row for Franklin Academy, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Somerset Academy Central Miramar will welcome International Studies at 4:00 p.m. on the 8th. As for Franklin Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Greater Miami Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
