Softball Recap: Cleveland Gets the Win

Cleveland's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Rhea County Golden Eagles by a score of 4-1. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Raiders in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Huntlee Dennison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lilly Mason, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Brylee Cisco was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Mason wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Cleveland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rhea County only managed three hits.

Cleveland now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Rhea County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Cleveland will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Chattanooga Christian at 4:00 p.m. Cleveland's pitchers better be ready for this one: Chattanooga Christian has averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Rhea County, they will venture away from home to challenge Rockwood at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rockwood has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20 runs per game on average), something Rhea County will no doubt try to take advantage of.
