Basketball Game Preview: Hayfork Timberjacks vs. Butte Valley Bulldogs

The Hayfork Timberjacks will head out on the road to square off against the Butte Valley Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hayfork has seven straight wins, Butte Valley has 22 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Hayfork is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Big Valley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hayfork blew Big Valley out of the water with a 78-35 final score. The Timberjacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Hayfork's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Levi Cavalli, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten steals. Cavalli's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Evan Pickett was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.

Hayfork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Butte Valley scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 65-49 bruising from Dunsmuir.

Hayfork's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 54 points. As for Butte Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-21.

Everything came up roses for Hayfork against Butte Valley when the teams last played on Monday, as the team secured an 83-23 victory. In that match, Hayfork amassed a halftime lead of 57-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
