Montezuma-Cortez is 9-1 against Bayfield since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Montezuma-Cortez Panthers will head out to challenge the Bayfield Wolverines at 5:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Montezuma-Cortez came up short against Monte Vista and fell 46-37.

Meanwhile, Bayfield got the win against Telluride on Saturday by a conclusive 36-13. The Wolverines pushed the score to 34-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Miners cut but never quite recovered from.

Montezuma-Cortez better keep an eye on Renae Foutz. She was instrumental in Bayfield's win, putting up 17 points and seven steals. They are 4-2 when Foutz posts five or more steals, but 2-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimball Anderson, who posted seven points and six steals.

Bayfield's win bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Montezuma-Cortez, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-16.

Montezuma-Cortez beat Bayfield 53-41 in their previous meeting on February 1st. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montezuma-Cortez since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
