Centennial had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Ironwood Eagles 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Coyotes have posted since February 27th.

Stephanie Olivas-Marrufo was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Annalise Macias, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Centennial's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ironwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

Looking ahead, Centennial will challenge Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Coyotes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Firebirds have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Ironwood, they will square off against Cactus at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
