Baseball Recap: Leyden Takes a Loss

If Leyden was riding high fresh off their 20-5 takedown of Fenton last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Leyden took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glenbard South Raiders on Tuesday. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Eagles who fell 8-6 when the teams previously met back in March of 2023.

Tyler Koenig and Maddox Jasinski stepped up to the plate in a big way. Koenig scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Jasinski scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two hits gave Koenig a new career-high. Jacob Ganir was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Leyden's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Glenbard South, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leyden will host Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Glenbard South, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Addison Trail at 11:00 a.m. Glenbard South is facing Addison Trail at the right time seeing as Addison Trail is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
