Basketball Game Preview: Gering Bulldogs vs. Scottsbluff Bearcats

Gering hasn't had much luck against Scottsbluff recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Gering Bulldogs will get right back to it and host the Scottsbluff Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Gering came up short against Chadron and fell 58-50.

Meanwhile, Scottsbluff fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Ogallala on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 68-61 to the Indians. The Bearcats have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Gering will need focus on slowing down Rylee Meininger, one of several Scottsbluff players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 of 9 on his way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Nate Kelley, who posted 13 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Scottsbluff's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Gering, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Gering lost to Scottsbluff at home by a decisive 52-36 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Gering avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
