Basketball Recap: Domonique Edwards' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Holmes over Marshall

Holmes lost against Marshall back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Holmes Huskies fell to the Marshall Rams 41-35. The Huskies' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Domonique Edwards, who posted 13 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Dreanne Garcia, who put up six points and five steals.

Marshall got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubrey Riojas out in front who went 6 of 13 on her way to 20 points and three steals. That's the most points Riojas has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenell Flores, who scored 11 points and five assists.

Holmes now has a losing record at 16-17. As for Marshall, their record now sits at 14-15.

Holmes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marshall, they will take on Stevens at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshall is facing Stevens at the right time seeing as Stevens is stuck on a 23-game losing streak.
