Basketball Recap: Kennedy Guy Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Sumner

Booker saw some tournament action on Friday. They walked away with a 62-54 victory over the Sumner Stingrays.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Booker to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kennedy Guy, who went 6-for-10 en route to 20 points. Guy is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 43% in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Kayla Simon was another key player, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 15 points and eight steals.

Sumner's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was London Arthur, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 15 boards. Another player making a difference was Jada Mathurin, who went 5-for-12 on her way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Booker now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Sumner, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Booker wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-54 win against Balboa on the 29th. As for Sumner, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-53 victory against North Tampa Christian Academy on the 29th.
