Football Game Preview: Muhlenberg Muhls vs. Ephrata Mountaineers

Muhlenberg hasn't had much luck against Ephrata recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Muhls will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Muhlenberg had been on a six-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but Exeter Township put an end to it on Friday. The Muhls were beaten by the Eagles 42-12. The contest marked the Muhls' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Ephrata came up short against Cocalico on Friday and fell 33-21. The defeat continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Ephrata saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Malachi Knowles rushed for 46 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 131 yards and one TD.

Ephrata's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Muhlenberg, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Muhlenberg was dealt a bruising 32-0 defeat at the hands of Ephrata when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Muhls, Caleb Grant (who threw for 157 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
