Flag Football Game Preview: Calexico Bulldogs vs. Brawley Wildcats

The Calexico Bulldogs will head out to take on the Brawley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Calexico's defense has only allowed 12.6 points per game this season, so Brawley's offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Calexico beat Central 20-12. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Spartans are ranked 492nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The critical scores for Calexico came from Mia Cruz, Kenya Herrera, and Arellana Garcia.

Calexico didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Yanelle Gil, Anabel Gonzalez, and Melany Valdes picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Brawley unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 38-25 to Vincent Memorial. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Wildcats, who until this game were averaging 11.21 points allowed.

Brawley's loss dropped their record down to 8-10-1. As for Calexico, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Calexico barely slipped by Brawley in their previous matchup back in August, winning 13-12. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
