Softball Recap: Overhills Gets the Win

Overhills won the last time they faced St. Pauls and things went their way on Friday too. The Jaguars came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 18-15. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.

Julianne Belcher made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Overhills got a massive performance out of Serenity Mclean, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Mclean has posted since back in March of 2025. Kadence West was another key player, going 1-for-2 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Overhills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Overhills' record now sits at 5-3. As for St. Pauls, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Overhills will challenge Hoke County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bucks have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for St. Pauls, they will square off against E.E. Smith at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Bulls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.75 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
