Baseball Recap: St. Croix Central Triumphs

St. Croix Central won the last time they faced Somerset and things went their way on Thursday too. The Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spartans, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since May 18, 2024.

Eli Babler was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. He has become a key player for St. Croix Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 3-4 otherwise. Brett Graese also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Croix Central and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Somerset, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Croix Central will host New Richmond at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Somerset, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ellsworth at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
