Softball Recap: Olympic's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Olympic came into Thursday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the North Mason Bulldogs on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 back in March.

Sophia Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jules Richmond, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Danika Potter, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Olympic now has a winning record of 8-7. As for North Mason, they moved to 8-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Olympic is taking a road trip to square off against Bainbridge at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Mason, they will host Orting at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
