Baseball Game Preview: Beachwood Bison vs. Kenston Bombers

The Beachwood Bison will challenge the Kenston Bombers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Beachwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with an 11-7 win over Berkshire on Thursday. Considering the Bison's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jaycob Zabell and Lucius Venditti made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Zabell struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Venditti tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At the plate, Zabell got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI, while Venditti went 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Ethan Malek was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three doubles, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavi Lappen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Beachwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Kenston narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Shaker Heights 6-4.

Kenston saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Kaltenbach, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was Kaltenbach's first of the season. Graysen Bischof was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Beachwood's record is now 5-12. As for Kenston, their record now sits at 5-14.
