Football Recap: Richfield Tigers vs. Camas County Mushers
Richfield couldn't quite beat Camas County on Friday, but the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 66-point defeat they were dealt last Friday. The Richfield Tigers fell just short of the Camas County Mushers by a score of 16-14. The Tigers lost against the Mushers in their previous head to head back in October of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 30-0 score last time.
Despite the loss, Richfield saw an underclassman step up: Devin Scott rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 111 yards while completing 75% of his passes. Scott was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 56 yards.
Richfield wouldn't let Camas County keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Jace Fuchs, Wyatt Huffman, and Iaancarlo Lopez picked up one apiece. The dominant performance also gave Huffman a new career-high in rushing yards.
Richfield is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for Camas County, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Richfield will host Castleford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Castleford is coming into the match with three straight wins on the road, so Richfield will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Camas County, they will venture away from home to challenge Hansen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Camas County is facing Hansen at the right time seeing as Hansen is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
