Football Recap: Holdenville's Undefeated Season over After Nine Games

If Holdenville was riding high fresh off their 46-14 takedown of Community Christian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolverines took a 23-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Davis Wolves on Friday. The matchup marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Although Holdenville took the loss, they still got scores from Abe Gomez and Bo Black.

Even if they lost, Holdenville's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Camron Swayze was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 14 total tackles.

Having lost for the first time this season, Holdenville fell to 8-1. As for Davis, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Holdenville and Davis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings. The Wolverines will square off against Comanche at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (38 vs. 202). Meanwhile, Davis (ranked 35th) will meet Community Christian (ranked 138th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
