Baseball Game Preview: Forest Hill Patriots vs. Callaway Chargers

The Forest Hill Patriots will take on the Callaway Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Forest Hill took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Provine.

Khadarius Johnson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Forest Hill: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 0-4 otherwise. Johnson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keidon Patrick, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double was Patrick's first of the season. JaMarcus Byrd was another, scoring a run and stealing Four bases.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Callaway brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They came out on top against Hazlehurst by a score of 10-5 on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Chargers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Callaway's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Forest Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Forest Hill took their win against Callaway when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1. Will Forest Hill repeat their success, or does Callaway have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
