Baseball Recap: Olathe Has No Trouble Against Fort Lupton

Olathe never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Fort Lupton on Saturday. They blew past the Bluedevils 13-3. Considering the Pirates have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryce Good made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Olathe is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Good was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 12 matches.

Good wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evan Eddy, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Eddy a new career-high. Luke Robertson was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Olathe's record now sits at 8-5. As for Fort Lupton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Olathe will head out to square off against Cedaredge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bruins will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fort Lupton, they will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bluedevils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
