Business as usual in Oklahoma as high school sports return without restrictions

Video: Mason Williams highlightsRising senior led Bixby to Class 6A Division II title last fall.The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) voted Friday against a three-phase plan to return to high school sports beginning June 1 and for conducting summer activities in accordance with existing rules and policies.
That means business as usual in Oklahoma, now the only state in the country to give the green light to high school sports without social distancing guidelines related to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to
Fox 23 News in Tulsa, athletic directors in six surrounding school districts indicated nothing will take place until at least June 1 and they are likely to institute their own precautions to guard against the virus.
