Alamo Heights had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Mercedes Tigers 63-21. The result was nothing new for the Mules, who have now won eight contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Dk Garza was his usual excellent self, rushing for 278 yards and six TDs on only 13 carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September. Alex Cross did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Alamo Heights was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 410 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in 13 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Mercedes lost, don't look at Robert Sanchez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 39 receiving yards. Sanchez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.

Alamo Heights' record now sits at 11-1. As for Mercedes, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 11-1.

Alamo Heights wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 41-18 victory against Victoria West on the 28th. Mercedes does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
