Recap: Western Warriors vs. Cimarron-Memorial Spartans
The Western Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. Western's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the defeat, Western had strong showings from Laila Lwaba, who scored 27 points along with four steals, and Qaaima Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lwaba has scored all season.
Western's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Cimarron-Memorial, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Western will be playing at home against Silverado at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Silverado is ranked 82nd, while Western is ranked 76th). As for Cimarron-Memorial, they will head out on the road to take on Rancho at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
