Basketball Recap: Joel Richter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Central over Ryle

On Tuesday, the East Central Trojans ended up a good deal behind the Ryle Raiders and lost 64-48. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 213th in Indiana, while the Raiders are ranked 51st in Kentucky).

East Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Joel Richter, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 17 points and five boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Cole Reynolds was another key player, putting up 11 points.

East Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Ryle, they pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, East Central will welcome Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Greenfield-Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Ryle, they will head out to challenge Conner at 7:30 p.m. on February 26th.
